The Chester Art Centre was founded by a small group of artists and art
lovers with a desire to enhance and encourage the artistic opportunities
in this picturesque seaside village. In April 2007 the Chester Art Centre
opened the community's first art centre in Chester, Nova Scotia.
The Chester Art Centre facility includes a main floor exhibition space and
classroom, full kitchen, and two second floor rooms utilized for studios,
exhibitions, conferences, and picnic grounds. The Centre offers a varied
and experiential range of classes for children and adults.
The Chester Art Centre has previously sponsored the hugely successful
Chester Art Fair which this year has expanded to an exciting three day
festival featuring local and regional artists, an exhibition and talks.
Funds for the art centre and its educational efforts are provided through
art classes, the art fair and festival, and the generous donations of our
supporters. Additionally, successful partnerships have been formed with
the local Recreation Department and the Chester and Area Family
Resource Centre.
